WORLD MUSIC DAY AT FORUM MALL KOLKATA: June 21st, 2013

Forum Mall is much more than just a shopping destination in Kolkata. For years it has hosted various events that are close to the heart of Kolkatans and so no wonder on the occasion of World Music Day it is partnering Alliance Francaise to host musical soirees within its premises.   From 11 am till 4 pm Forum Mall will host some brilliant music performances at the Ground floor atrium area. The event at Forum Mall  is actually a part of a series of event s that has been organised by Alliance Française on the same day all across the city. la Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) is an annual international celebration of the shared experience of music started life 20 years ago in France, but caught the imagination of people everywhere and is now celebrated in thousands of locations worldwide, with more than 100 countries participating, offering free concerts of every style of music, to reach all tastes and generations, in all manner of venues, from pavements to concert halls.

This year Kolkata is joining the party in style. 70 bands have registered with the Alliance Française to be part of the Festival, including the Police band, Los Amigos and the Classical Music society.

In honour of the 100^th anniversary of Bengal’s greatest poet and song-writer’s historic Nobel prize, the event will open at 10a.m. at RabindraBharati University, from where a truck acting as a moving stage will make its way across Kolkata, stopping at designated sites for live concerts. Simultaneously, bands will perform throughout the day at Nazrul Manch and other venues across town including malls, parks, hotels, cinemas, international cultural centres and bookshops.

The road parade will terminate at Nazrul Manch, where there will be a live concert starring some of Kolkata’s finest bands, and for those with the appetite for more, the music will continue at the Princeton into the night.

A Four Day Long Kids Carnival 2013- Brought to You By Forum Mall

Forum Receives National Award for Empowerment of the Persons with Disabilities!

Forum mall has received National Award for “EMPOWERMENT OF THE PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES” an award for creating barrier free environment for person with physical disability.

The mall provides access for people on wheelchair through any corner. Facilities available in the mall are

• Hi end washroom for people on wheel chairs

On “International Day of People with Disability” we unveiled our award in the gracious presence of Mr. Masoodoor Rehman.

 Mr. Masoodoor Rehman is a very well known athlete in both National & International Circle. Born in 1968 Mr. Rehman is a Swimmer.  The first orthopaedically disabled swimmer from Asia and the second in the world to cross the English Channel in 1997 and 81 Km stretch in Murshidabad (West Bengal) in 1993 and 1995.  Mr. Rehman, conqueror of the English Channel, became the world’s first such swimmer to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. The 32-year old Baidya, took four hours 20 minutes to emerge victorious in his battle against waves in the difficult Strait of Gibraltar.
